Writing the Perfect College Entrance Essay

Composing the Perfect College Entrance Essay Free Online Research Papers Composing the Perfect College Entrance Essay In AP English Language, educated by Dr. Phillips, the initial hardly any long stretches of class were spent composing school papers. As Dr. Phillips says, â€Å"a great exposition may not really get you into a school, however an awful one will unquestionably keep you out.† She focuses on that the significant thing to recollect is that these papers are being explored by one who will have been auditing these sorts of articles for quite a while previously. Along these lines, it is particularly significant that the exposition is one of a kind and fascinating. Obliging that, our class was given a duplicate of a sheet which included â€Å"Essays to Avoid† (From â€Å"For a few Applicants, Student Essay Unlocks or Seals the Door to College† Maureen David). The expositions to keep away from (however this isn’t supreme) include: â€Å"My Favorite Things† paper, Trip article, â€Å"Miss America† exposition, â€Å"jock† paper and 3D (decent variety of interests) paper. These ought to by and large be evaded on the grounds that they don’t take into account a lot of self-improvement. In the athlete article, one could expound on how playing football demonstrated the person in question about collaboration. Indeed, that individual and half of the others applying could state the EXACT SAME THING. For the â€Å"my most loved things† exposition, one may state that they like cutting edge innovation since it permits individuals from everywhere throughout the world to convey in a major, glad, pool of assorted variety. That’s all fun and flawless, however such articles neglect to say anything regarding you as an individual. Loads of understudies found that composing expositions about somebody who has affected them were successful. These expositions are particularly acceptable on the grounds that they don’t must be too self-centered, and they permit you the chance to concentrate on somebody other than yourself while uncovering bits of data about yourself. Having the option to do that is a distinct characteristic of good composition. Additionally, it’s important to make sure to act naturally. Definitely, you should attempt to be sure and clever and genuine and utilize high phrasing, yet making an exposition conventional will cause the individual who’s perusing it to nod off. You shouldn’t be negative however. While beginning your article by saying â€Å"I despise everyone† wouldn’t cause anybody to nod off (except if they were truly worn out), it wouldn’t give an excellent impression of you. One likewise can’t acclaim oneself to an extreme. Nobody likes perusing an exposition which goes â€Å"I found out about being a decent individual, pleasant, kind, mindful, positive†¦Ã¢â‚¬ in light of the fact that it’s basically gloating. Also, one final piece of guidance: Don’t drag it on. The more you can say in a shorter space, the better. Indeed, school application evaluaters don’t need to understand books. Mr. Anderson says â€Å"it strikes m e as silly to request that somebody uncover their character in 500 words or less,† yet on account of school applications, it’s a need. Have a great time! Never Trust and Always Verify How to Avoid Getting Scammed Over Email

Never Trust and Always Verify How to Avoid Getting Scammed Over Email Never Trust and Always Verify: How to Avoid Getting Scammed Over Email Never Trust and Always Verify: How to Avoid Getting Scammed Over EmailA scammer can make their emails look like theyre from your boss, a trusted retailer, or your best friend. Heres how to stop them from stealing your identity. Here’s a question: If you were suddenly locked out of your email accounts, how badly would that affect your ability to a) do your job, or b) live your everyday life? If you’re like most people, the answer is probably “really badly, so very badly indeed.”Email accounts have become such a central hub of daily life and work that, of course, it’s one of the places that scammers target first. Whether it’s by sending you a phishing email or by guessing the answer to your (super easy to figure out) security question, there are numerous ways that scam artists can hack into your account and steal your identity.Luckily, there are also steps you can take and pieces of advice you can heed in order to keep yourself safe from their nasty works. Here’s a quick a nd dirty guide to how you can identify, derail, and generally avoid emails scams. Watch out for these 3 common email scams. In order to keep yourself safe from email scams, you need to learn how to identify them. As wily as these scammers can be, most of their schemes tend to follow the same handful of plots. Here are three common types of email scams, courtesy of Justin Lavelle, a scams prevention expert and Chief Communications Officer at BeenVerified.com (@BeenVerified).“Many hackers will use big names like PayPal and eBay in the sent from section of emails, so it is important to ignore unknown emails. If you open the email and aren’t sure of its validity, just click on the name in the “sent from” box to view the actual email address. Most times you’ll realize right away that it’s not actually a business email address from PayPal, eBay, or another well-known institution. If you don’t recognize the sender, your best bet is to not open the email period and never click on a link, attachment, or file within an email you’re unsure about. This is how hackers insert Malware on your computer and are able to access your personal information.”“CEO Phishing Scam. This scam works as followsâ€"a brief, casual email arrives from a top executive or even the CEO of the company from the correct email address, with nothing appearing out of sync. The request is for the recipient to wire money to a certain account or share some other sensitive company information, such as employee payroll data. The scam often works because it plays off of certain corporate cultures; fellow executives may be used to such informal and terse communications between one another, while a request from a CEO made to a more junior employee may not garner any questions out of a sense of obedience.”“Business Email Compromise Scam. Similar to CEO Phishing scams, the Business Email Compromise Scam targets businesses working with foreign vendors or businesses that regularly perform wi re-transfer payments. The fraudster emails a phishing document to an intended victim via the address of a legitimate supplier and asks him to change the wire transfer payments of paying invoices. Once the link in the email is clicked on, it downloads malware on the computer and allows the fraudster to gain unrestricted access to personal information, including financial account data and passwords.”Trust no one. Seriously.Steve Weisman is a lawyer, author, and identity theft expert. His Scamicide (@Scamicide) blog tracks all the latest developments in scams and provides resources to help users keep themselves safe. And when it comes to protecting yourself from an email scam, Weisman has a very catchy motto.“My mantra for avoiding email scams is trust me, you cant trust anyone, says Weisman.  â€œA wide range of malware from ransomware to keystroke logging malware, which is used to steal personal information from your computer, is most often unwittingly downloaded by victims who c lick on links or download attachments in emails that appear to come from people, institutions,  and companies that they trust.“Often the emails containing the malware have been specifically crafted to appeal to us personally through social engineering, by which the scammer has gathered information about us to make the email more appealing and more trustworthy.”“Often we are our own worst enemies by posting too much information about ourselves on social media, “ he continues, “thereby arming the scammer with personal information, such as our favorite band or television program that can be used to lure us to click on a link or download an attachment. In some instances, we may be responding to an email that actually is coming from one of our friends whose account has been hacked so we tend to trust it.“Trust me, you cant trust anyone.”How to recognize a scam email.Brandon Schroth is the Digital Manager for Gillware Data Recovery (@gwdatarecovery). He cautions that its not just individuals who need to watch out for email scams: “Organizations need to be prepared for malicious breaches and cyber attacks, many of which are delivered by way of email.”According to Schroth, “fraudulent emails come in all shapes and sizes.” But he also has tips to help you easily identify them:“If you receive an email where the ‘To’ field is left blank, it’s a clear signal that it didn’t come from the perceived sender.”“When an email from a company has spelling errors or bad grammar, it should be another warning sign. Large companies have copywriters and editors who make sure email communications are grammatically correct.”“Also, if the email begins with Hello but doesn’t actually state your name, that’s another red flag.”“When checking your email, stay suspicious and on alert. Often times a fraudulent email will try to scare you by saying something was stolen or that you’ve won a prize. Rather than clicking on links from your email, jus t go directly to the actual website and sign in how you normally would.”Even if all those methods fail, there is one thing you can do to above else. According to Weisman, “You can start protecting yourself by never clicking on a link or downloading an attachment unless you have absolutely confirmed that it is legitimate.”Install a security program. Both Weisman and Schroth agree that you (and your employer) should use some kind  of security program on your devices.“You should also have some form of internet security installed,” says Schroth. “Norton AntiVirus or McAfee SiteAdvisor are two helpful tools that can prevent disaster in the event you do open a malicious email.”Weisman goes on to provide an additional warning: Even the most recently updated security software is still probably lagging behind the best scammers.“You also should have security software on all of your electronic devices including your phone and keep that security software up to date with the lates t security patches,” says Weisman, “recognizing that regardless of how up to date your security software is, it will always be at least 30 days behind the latest scams using and exploiting previously undiscovered zero-day defects.Don’t re-use the same password. We know. We know. It’s difficult enough remembering one password, let alone one dozen. Still, using the same password over and over again means that a scammer only has to get their hands on one of them in order to access all your personal and financial accounts. It may be a hassle, but it’s a hassle worth dealing with.Use a unique password for every account,” says Weisman, adding that it’s “not as difficult as it may appear.”“You can start with a base password, such as IDontLikePasswords which combines capital letters, small letters and a symbol.  You can then strengthen it even further by adding a couple of symbols so it reads IDontLikePasswords!!!.“Now you can adapt that base password with a few letter s for each of your accounts.  For instance, your Gmail account password can be IDontLikePasswords!!!GM.”Beware easy to answer security questions. In the digital age, using a security question like “what street did you grow up on” or “where did you go to middle school” could set you on the fast track to getting hacked. With more information about ourselves available than ever before in human history, you’ll have to take some extra precautions.According to Weisman, “You also should be aware that if someone is able to answer your security question, they can take over your email account as happened to Sarah Palin when someone answered her security question as to where she met her husband by getting the answer through Wikipedia (It was at Wasilla High School).“While most of us arent as famous as Sarah Palin, much of our personal information can be found with a diligent online search and we also may have, again, posted too much personal information online such as our pets name.”Here’s Weisman’s delightfully simple solution:“The easy way to avoid this problem is to give a nonsensical answer for the security question.  For instance, you can make the answer to the security question asking your mothers maiden name, Grapefruit.  It is so nonsensical, no identity thief will be able to ascertain it and it is so silly that you will remember it.”Scammers will do everything in their power to get one over on you. The more precautions you take like the ones listed above, the less likely they are to gain the upper-hand. When it comes to emails, you have to trust no one and do everything you can to verify their identity. Together with some strong security software, these practices are the best way to keep yourself safe.To learn more about protecting yourself from scammers and con artists, check out these related posts and articles from OppLoans:How to Avoid Getting Insta-Scammed on InstagramDating App Dangers: 7 Tips to Avoid Getting Scammed by a Fake RomanceWatch Out for Change-of-Address Identity Theft Scams!Multi-Level Marketing Scams: How a MLM “Job” Could End Up Costing You ThousandsHave you ever fallen victim to an email scam? What Is a Newton - Chemistry Definition

A newton is the SI unit of force. It is named in honor of Sir Isaac Newton, the English mathematician and physicist who developed laws of classical mechanics. The symbol for newton is N. A capital letter is used because the newton is named for a person (a convention used for symbols of all units). Formulas and Examples   One newton is equal to the amount of force needed to accelerate a 1 kg mass 1 m/sec2. This makes the newton a derived unit because its definition is based on other units.1 N 1 kg ·m/s2 The newton comes from Newtons second law of motion, which states: F ma where F is force, m is mass, and a is acceleration. Using the SI units for force, mass, and acceleration, the units of the second law become: 1 N 1  kgâ‹…m/s2 A newton is not a large amount of force, so it is common to see the kilonewton unit, kN, where: 1 kN 1000 N Newton Examples The gravitational force on Earth is, on average, 9.806 m/s2. In other words, a kilogram mass exerts about 9.8 newtons of force. To put that in perspective, about half of one of Isaac Newtons apples would exert 1 N of force. The average human adult exerts about 550-800 N of force, based on an average mass ranging from 57.7 kg to 80.7 kg. The thrust of an F100 fighter jet is approximately 130 kN.

Essay about Can the World Sustain an Increasing Population

Countries in the world hold different attitudes to the population policy, some of them tend to delay the increase of population while others introduce policies to encourage childbirth. After centuries of continual growth, which started at the first industrial revolution, the global population reached over 7 billion individuals in 2013. Research by Ezeh, Bongaarts and Mberu (2012) states that increasing population is a threat to individuals and societies by bring problems based on unsatisfied demand. The â€Å"increasing population† in this essay can be defined as net rising in birth rate during a period, especially in the poor developing countries. This essay will argue that the world cannot sustain an increasing population. The reasons for†¦show more content†¦However, the same degree of pollution increases in cities with population of 10 million people is 3.13 parts per billion (NASA, 2013). The contribution to air pollution from surface-level NO2 is about a factor of five when population in cities increased from 1 million to 10 million people in China. According to Engelman (2009), falling human numbers is a powerful key to long-term environmental sustainability. Therefore it could be concluded that the world environment can hardly maintain an increasing population for its limited resources and probably pollution. Another reason for the world cannot continue to provide for increasing population is that rising rate of birth especially in poorest developing countries aggravates the trend toward greater inequality, which means the rich getting much richer while others are opposite. Ezeh, Bongaarts and Mberu (2012) found that in general, the growth of population is rapider in poorer countries than developed countries. For example, the World Bank points out that in sub-Saharan Africa where poverty headcount ratio fluctuated of 50% from 1981 to 2010, the rate of population growth is more than 2% per year. Poverty trend in here refers to people living on less than $1.25 a day. In the Paris suburb, about 80 km from the city, there stands the one of the most exquisite samples of the French cathedrals of Gothic style, the Chartres. Numerous works on this subject someway mention that â€Å"Gothic architecture began with the quantum leap of Chartres Cathedral, France† (Vickers, 1999). We will write a custom essay sample on Western Art or any similar topic only for you Order Now There are several unique architectural features, ‘cutting-edge’ for the 12th century, introduced in the edifice. First and the most outstanding of them, the flying buttresses, have greatly contributed in the whole architectural solution represented by higher ceiling and thinner walls, which later became typical for Gothic structures. The buttresses allowed redistributing of the roof load outw?rds, and helped to avoid the old practice of thick, heavy walls. Generally, the Cathedral was built in Latin-crossed configuration, as we can see on the plan: As we enter the cathedral, our attention is primarily drawn by multiple arches (another peculiarity of cathedral’s architecture), the stained-glass windows composed of the hundreds of geometric?lly sh?ped glass pieces, and the sculptures illustrating Old Testament scenes. By moving on between the two towers, we are walking over the famous labyrinth, and can see numerous arcades on the both North and South Naves, with clerestory and stained glass above. As we look back to the entrance, we notice one of the three rose windows on the west front. Passing the aspiring aisles leads us to the Crossing, the central part of the building, wider and more spacious. On the left transept our glance is immediately grabbed by the wall painting of Saints fronting the ‘Virgin and Child’ painting on the opposite transept. At the same time we are enjoying the view of cross-type vaulting and upper north and south walls including more rose windows. After the Crossing, we are finally reaching the Choir section and the Ambulatory. The apse of the cathedral is represented with 5 Radiating Chapels. The Chartres Cathedral that we have nowadays, despite fire damages and further restoration, is one of the finest examples of the French Gothic architecture. How to cite Western Art, Papers

Memorial Health System CPOE Implementation

Table of Contents Introduction Indicators of Project Failure in the Case study Conclusion and Recommendations Reference List Introduction In an effort to improve the efficiency of healthcare services, health care organizations engage in the development of new IT projects. The IT projects help to promote organizational performance and provide means through which an organization can achieve its goals. Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Memorial Health System CPOE Implementation specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The management of the organization plays a vital role in project planning and implementation and in effecting the organizational change to enhance the use of the new technologies. To achieve successful implementation of IT projects, project managers ensure that projects fall within the projected budget and schedule according to the initial plan. IT project failures arise when the budget and timeline differ with the intended budget and schedule. In the case study, ‘Memorial Health System CPOE Implementation’, a combination of poor management decisions contributed to the project failure. Indicators of Project Failure in the Case study In the case study, the CPOE project initiative lacked clarity of purpose from the outset. The objectives and purpose of the project were not set out clearly (Wager, Lee, Glaser, 2009, p.397). The main objective of the CPOE project was to minimize the rate of medical errors by providing a computer-based system for doctors to administer prescriptions. However, it was not clear to the health system stakeholders including the community-based independent health care providers regarding how the new system would reduce their workload while at the same time minimize the rate of medical errors as opposed to the manual system. The stakeholders felt that the new system would turn out to be expensive and time consuming. Another indicator that contribut ed to the failure of the CPOE project initiative was the lack of sufficient leadership support for the project. Although the first CEO, Fred Dyer, and the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Joe Roberts, supported the project initiative, the interim CEO, Barbara Liu, opposed the project prior to his appointment. Liu lacked of commitment and had reservations about the utility of the initiative. However, he was forced to spearhead the implementation of the project initiative by the board members who felt that terminating the initiative would bring substantial financial loss. Advertising Looking for essay on it? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More Lack of leadership support also becomes evident when Liu appointed an opponent of the initiative, Dr. Sparks, as the new CIO, who delegated the oversight role to Sally Martin. He then refused to adopt Martin’s recommendations meant to ensure project success, showing his lack of commitm ent to the project initiative. In the case study, the health system’s stakeholders and the health care providers were opposed to organizational change. The organizational inertia exhibited by the stakeholders and providers contributed to failure of the CPOE project initiative. During the proposal and evaluation of the CPOE project initiative, most health stakeholders opposed it for fear that it would increase their workload. Even after its approval, many prominent physicians transferred their services to other health systems that could not implement the CPOE system. The efforts of the proponents of the project including the CEO, Fred Dyer, could not produce intended results because majority of the stakeholders resisted the new changes. The organizational inertia increased resistance to new changes contributing to the CPOE project failure. Project complexity also contributed to the failure of the CPOE project initiative. The management lacked a full understanding of the scope and complexity of the project in terms of resources and timelines required. To promote the CPOE approval, Dyer and Roberts, presented an exaggerated implementation timeline, which to some board members was unrealistic. Later, Martin, the project manager, presented a new budgetary changes including $500,000 integration software that was not included in the initial budget. In addition, the CPOE project fell behind schedule as it failed to meet the 18-month initial schedule. The complexity and scope of the project overwhelmed the organization and called for the budget and timelines to be revised contributing to the project failure. The organizational environment in the case study prevented healthy debate and exchange of ideas contributing to the failure of the CPOE initiative. The stakeholders and the healthcare providers were not consulted prior to the implementation of the project. Those opposed had to seek an alternative way of voicing their opinion; for instance, prominent physi cians transferred their services to other health systems. Lack of candor is also evident when the CIO, Dr. Sparks, instructed the project manager, Martin, to report positively about the project progress despite the logistical challenges thus contributing to the project failure.Advertising We will write a custom essay sample on Memorial Health System CPOE Implementation specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Conclusion and Recommendations To promote the success of the CPOE project, I would have clarified the purpose of the CPOE initiative including its benefits like how the new system would minimize medical errors and reduce their workload. This clarity would increase the support for the project, as the stakeholders would understand its benefits. In addition, to ensure success of the project, I would have ensured that only qualified and committed project manager and CIO headed the undertaking. Committed leadership would make important decisions to ensure that the initiative is successful. To overcome organizational inertia, I would recommend training programs to enlighten the stakeholders on the necessity of the new technological changes prior to implementation for majority of people oppose change for lack of knowledge (Kerzner, 2004, p.28). I would also recommend that the project be implemented in different phases each with a realistic timeline and sufficient resources to ensure that the implementation runs to completion. Organizational culture of candor through free communication between project managers and the leadership could help promote success of the project. Reference List Kerzner, H. (2004). I Am My Mothers Daughter Professor Ramos Blog

I Am My Mothers Daughter Nick White English 101 Prof. Ramos I am my Mothers Daughter Everyone who reads â€Å"Never Marry a Mexican† is very quick to look down on the main character Clemencia for her choices but I dont think it’s that easy. I think that she became who she was taught to be and who she learned to be. This could be from her parents, her siblings or maybe even a trusted teacher. This girl did go through some pretty traumatic stuff when she was younger so it is no surprise that she became the woman she became. From a young age Clemencia’s mother told her â€Å"never marry a mexican† because she did and he was very traditional. He was born and raised in Mexico while she was born and raised in the United States but in a mexican household. Even though they were both mexican and taught mexican culture they were taught it differently. From day one the relationship was not sound, they would always feel like the other ones beliefs were wrong so to try and protect her daughter she just told her to never marry a mexican so she wouldnt have to deal with the same struggle. Clemencia was raised being told to basically abandon her culture and just go for a rich white guy to support her. Her mother was also un loyal to her husband so again Clemencia is learning these negative things from her mother which will stick with her her whole life. Even worse, her mother cheated on her husband while he was sick and in the hospital which would have a very strong impact on Clemencia as she had alway s connected with her father more than her mother so after hearing what her mother did it drove a wedge even farther in the family. Then to add insult to injury the mom then married and children with the man she was having an affair with. What mother could put her children through all that? Now saying her mother made her the way she is isnt fair because Clemencia does acknowledge the fact that what she is doing is wrong but she also says that she saw what marriage did nothing for her mother and father so why does she need to get married? Her mother did love and care for Clemencia and her siblings but her mother also taught her terrible things and those terrible things followed clemencia throughout her whole life. It would be unfair to put all the blame on the mother though because in the book Clemencia keeps dating men that are married but she couldnt do that if married men didnt go looking for new woman. We usually blame women for being the homewrecker and ruining the relationship but what about the man who had an equal part in bringing that girl into all this? In the story the main male character is named Drew and he was married but also clemencias teacher. The two of them ended up dating and on the day of drew’s child being born drew was back at home with Clemencia in Drews bed. This is almost exactly what Clemencias mother did to her husband, she left him in his time of need to be with someone else. Drew does actually eventually end up leaving his wifr and taking the kid after actually introducing Clemencia to his wife to really hit home that their dirt bags. None of this would have happened if Clemencia never got together with Drew but Drew made a conscious effort to keep pursuin g Clemencia and to keep their relationship a secret from his wife so its both their fault not just her. Maybe there is just some thrill they got sneaking around that made them keep going, they knew it was wrong but the rush they got from trying to hide it was more important. It’s like skydiving or surfing, it’s scary, fun and dangerous because at any moment the whole thing could go wrong and everything comes crumbling down around them. So maybe this whole thing wasnt love it was just chasing the forbidden fruit, it was taking the thing you’re not supposed to have just because you can. So can you really blame them? Everyone has taken a cookie out of the cookie jar without asking. Everyone is so quick to blame the girl for cheating but so many other factors play into it all. I personally find Clemencia to be a very deep and complex character who could easily be overlooked once you finish the story. But she allows us to look at ourselves and society as a whole and really see how we view the roles and dynamics of men vs women.

Bahuvrihi Compounds

Bahuvrihi Compounds Bahuvrihi Compounds Bahuvrihi Compounds By Mark Nichol Have you ever described someone as a blockhead? Have you explained an action as heavy-handed? Have you ever referred to someone as white-collar? If so, then you’ve employed a bahuvrihi compound. Such terms are compounds in which the first word of each pair is a feature of the second; the composition is an adjective (or, occasionally, a noun) attached to a noun to itself serve as an adjective or a noun. The name, from Sanskrit, is itself a bahuvrihi compound that means â€Å"much rice† but refers, as a form of synecdoche, to a rich man. (A synecdoche is a term that uses a part of something to refer to the whole, such as hand in the direction â€Å"Give me a hand† when what one is asking for is the use of one’s entire person.) Bahuvrihi compounds often refer to a characteristic of a person. They can be neutral (barefoot) or derogatory (lowlife). They can refer to a physical feature (graybeard or redhead) or to status within a profession or pursuit (blue-collar and white-collar, or tenderfoot) or an attitude associated with one’s place in society (bluestocking or highbrow). Compounds such as heavy-handed can describe an approach or a personality trait. They can also pertain to an object (houndstooth, to describe a fabric pattern; also styled hound’s-tooth) or to an animal (sabretooth); other compounds that, like these, consist of two nouns include several pejorative terms for someone perceived to be dumb or foolish: blockhead, bonehead, half-wit, and knucklehead. By contrast, a person considered highly intelligent is called an egghead. Note that bahuvrihi compounds are usually closed; the aforementioned blue-collar and white-collar, as well as half-wit and heavy-handed, are exceptions, as is the term â€Å"old money,† to refer to a family that has been wealthy for generations (or an individual from such a family). Whether the compound is open, hyphenated, or closed, is, as is the case with compounds in general, random; note blue-collar and bluestocking, for example. Bahuvrihi compounds are useful resources for writers as expressive ways to describe a person or, occasionally, a place or a thing. Want to improve your English in five minutes a day? Handwriting a letter versus sending an e-mail message Essay - 1

Handwriting a letter versus sending an e-mail message - Essay Example Henry Ford was the industrialist for whom the Ford Motor Company was named. In 1891, Ford went to work for the Edison Illuminating Company (Later Detroit Edison Company). He advanced rapidly and became chief engineer. In his spare time, he worked in a building behind his home to build a â€Å"horseless carriage.† Thomas A. Edison, who later became a close friend, encouraged him at their first meeting in 1895. The next year Ford completed his first working model of an automobile. He later built several racing cars, including the 999 in which Barney Oldfield broke the world’s speed records in 1902 and 1903. Ford himself set a new record (91.3 miles per hour) (Collier 34). In addition, a coal leader Alex Y. Malcomson, became interested in Ford’s car after Ford had failed twice to get into manufacturing. In 1903, Malcomson, Ford, and 10 other men formed the Ford Motor Company. After buying out Malcomson and two other stockholders in 1907-07, Ford became president and the dominant figure in the company. However, he shared control until 1915 with James Couzens, later United States senator from Michigan (Collier 35-37). In 1911 Ford won a lengthy court fight in which it was decided that he had not infringed on the automotive patents of George B. Selden. This victory not only saved the Ford Motor Company from possible ruin, but benefited the entire industry be freeing other manufacturers from the necessity of paying royalties. By 1915, Ford’s company was producing almost half of all the automobiles sold in the United States (Collier 37). Furthermore, He is considered the man who â€Å"put America on wheels† because the assembly-line method of manufacturing, which he pioneered, allowed him to become the first to produce low-priced autos in large quantities (Collier 41). His Model T â€Å"Tin Lizzie,† produced from 1908 to 1927 and coming in

Nursing Theory Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 3

Nursing Theory - Essay Example Tautology looks into the useless repetition of a concept in different parts of the theory that can confuse the explanation of the theory vague and can confuse the reader. While, teleology is examined by considering the extent to which consequences and causes are put different in a theory. Teleology happens when a theorist describes ideas by consequences and then initiates new ideas instead of getting the definitions of the original ideas. As this procedure continues, the theory remains vague for there is no lucid definition of the theory’s ideas (Peterson & Bredow, 2009). Moreover, diagrams are important to see the interrelationship of the ideas practically to each other before conducting research. They are essential in reviewing the strength of statistical associations between the theories ideas (p. 55). In conclusion, theory development and critique are important because they result to theories that are adequate, clear, and address the complexity and consistency of theories. Theories that are produced after the process are precise, definitive parameters and have clear boundaries of the subject matter. Theories provide nurses with the required basis to restructure and enlighten healthcare and improve the quality of care at all professional

The White Doe by Francesco Petrarch Essay -- TPCASTT for The White Doe

Title- I believe that the title, "The White Doe" will perhaps have something to do with animals because the only way I have ever heard the word doe used is in the context of a female deer. Perhaps the poem will touch on the innocence of an animal or situation because of the word "white" which symbolizes innocence and cleanliness. Paraphrase- In the poem, "The White Doe," the author is speaking of an encounter with a female deer. The encounter takes place in a glade, which is an opening in the forest. It is a cold morning when the author first spots the deer under the shade of a tree in between two streams. The author raves at the site of the magnificent animal. Intrigued by the deer, he follows it throughout the morning like a greedy person searches for treasure. After following the animal, the author realizes that the deer does not want to be touched because a higher authority wishes it to remain undisturbed. Noontime soon came, and satisfaction did not come to the author's tired eyes. The author falls into a stream at the end, and the beautiful white doe disappears. Connotation- The first glance at the poem, "The White Doe" leads the reader to believe that it is strictly about an encounter with a white doe, but it actually is a love poem. The white doe represents the woman the author loves. This poem's rhyme scheme varies from stanza to stanza. The first stanza has a rhyme scheme of ABAB, the second ABBA, the third ABA, and the fourth stanza has no rhyme scheme. The deterioration of the rhyme steady serves as a tool to exemplify how the speaker becomes lost in following the animal/woman. The entire poem is an example of personification because the white doe represents the woman whom the author loves. White symbolizes the... ...to deer, the author created more of a feminine sounding title, which in turn implies that white doe represents a woman. Theme- The author is trying to say that everyone should come out of the forest into the glade because one might find something magnificent. In other words, for someone to not find his or herself caught up in the clutter or everyday life and thinking only of oneself. The author is trying to send the message for people to look up out of the thicket and see life because a beautiful white doe-pure innocent young woman-may be waiting to meet oneself. Yet, in the end the author wants to get away from his escape, so the author is also saying that one should not become fixated upon one moment. Therefore, the author is sending the message that one should look up and smell the roses, yet know where one is and still have his or her priorities in order.

Partnership transportation Essay

Partnership transportation in broad mind means involvement of all parties in the running and operations of transportation and its impact, retrieved from a journal on â€Å"facilitating partnership in transportation (2005) page 7 and 8†, by James A Merchant and Barbara T Harder. Transportation and maintenance is a work done by local government and the state in collaboration with other partners. Partnership transportation involves integration of various bodies in the transport sector. Partnership in transportation sector can be classified into two categories. First there is incorporation of all means of transport, this include pipeline transportation method, railway transportation method, airway, shipment, road transportation methods. Second, there is integration of private companies and people that own the vehicles, marine ships, airbuses and pipelines, chamber of commerce and industry that has the potential human resource powers to innovate new technologies that enhance fuel saving, and other automobile associations. In transportation, no specific body that can handle transportation sector individually without cooperation of other parties as indicated by Mark Wymond-1917-178 pages in his book â€Å"Our transportation problem† ,www.worldcatlibraries.org . For example, poor management of institutional framework may deteriorate roads management, railway management etc. Poor conditions of road, railways and airports because of poor services and maintenance may be another issue of concern. Lack of defined responsibilities of each associate party, ineffective and weak management structures can also have adverse effects in the transportation sector. Lack of managerial accountability is another issue of concern; this is because transportation itself is an individual identity. Hence, there must be somebody to respond to various issues that may arise. The responsive party would include government officials and private transport cartels.   Failure due to road and railway engineers adversely affects transportation sector. The government is involved in financing public roads and other means of transportation. The government makes sure that there is rule of law that is followed. It is the work of govern to mitigate the transportation processes.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Historical background Partnership transportation resulted in manner that was not supposed to be. It dates us back to the early seventeen century when the prisoners in Victoria were being transported from various parts of the country to Australia.[1] This was an intention to punish the prisoners since there were no enough prisons to keep them. Therefore, a solution was found on to how to punish those prisoners. One of the best ways to do that was to compel the prisoners to carry out hard work, tiring jobs and boring tasks such as walking miles away to transport goods or to peak oakum.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Farming is another issue that resulted to partnership transportation. This included commercial activities occurring as transportation route; this made the construction of various transportation route e.g.   The Chin ago canals, and rail lines were developed, linking the town to other parts of the region. A tract was opened to settlers and land companies by the Clinton treaty in 1788. The growth of Hamilton town was because of stimulation by several main roads, which crossed from east to west. Therefore, there erupted a relationship between the farmers and transportation board in various countries. Transportation of farm produce resulted to growth and development of transportation sector. On the other hand, farmers benefited from easy means of accessing the markets for their produce. In the process, trading started and business thrived tremendously. This resulted to stiff competition that enabled business partners to merge and to come up with an idea to work together, this is how the partnership transportation emerged. That resulted to automobile firms that started competing on manufacturing different kinds of vehicles. Since then the technology has advanced to the manufacturing of space ships. Status: current issues, practices, developments, controversies and impact of partnership transport.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The current issues of partnership transportation include commuters and commuting society, insurance and registration, maintenance and repairs, safety and development. There is the issue of confronting the daunting challenge posed by global climatic change. The main source of green house gases like carbon dioxide is burning of fossil fuel by either through burning coals, oils, petrol, kerosene etc. Burning of fossil fuel include even idling. Therefore, global warming is caused by emission of green house gases that pollute the atmosphere and this go hand in hand with industrialization. It is due to industrialization that transportation is enhanced by manufacturing of automobiles. Therefore, there must be away of partnership association in combating the consequences of transportation. It is fair for industrialized countries to enhance the issue of mitigating this effect as they are the main cause.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Global warming is one of the negative impacts caused by the gas emitted by automobiles. Mainly the climatic change is usually caused by pollution that affects the ozone layer. Then the ozone layer becomes less effective in controlling the remittance of radiation from the sun. Therefore, the transport board must tackle this problem since they are part of the cause beside industrialization. In addition, this pollution has a major impact on the quality and feasibility of transit-oriented development. The current issue of concern is to mitigate fuel consumption and to avoid accidents caused by reckless driving.   Reckless driving practices can have a negative implication on automobile fuel economy. This project of training drivers can enhance fuel economy because experienced experts would save consumption. This is by using simple techniques like cruise control mechanism, pricing whenever possible, avoiding use of cab appliances, soft and gradual acceleration and progressive shifting. All these mechanisms enhance reduction of speed. Transport sector in collaboration with the traffic police; address this issue by ensuring that transport rules and regulations are adhered to. Transit connectivity plan is improved daily to enhance pediatrician walking; this makes passenger’s movement easy from one movement to another. Goods movement services should be improved to enhance cargo and freight transportation, this include transit expansion program resolution for rail, road, bus and ferry transit projects. Freight movement is essential to any economy and way of life. For example in each year in the US, automobile moved about ten billion tons of freight worth more than 7.5 trillion dollars whereby, the ground freight consumed significant energy and the sector grew as   expected. This is a development issue because over thirty five billion gallons of fuel will increase to about forty five billion by the year 2013. The ground freight industry is large and decentralized; this is because seven million freight trucks and twenty thousand locomotives are in partnership transportation in US and this is not a simple thing. Another development issue is the ongoing activities concerning pedestrians planning strategies, bicycle riders, community-based planning and development they intend to take. Controversies results due to the need of expanding the transport course, this is because expansion might lead to congestion or evacuation of some people from the intended bypass. This program’s goal is to advance the findings of the lifeline transportation network suggestion through collaboration with community organizations, transit agencies and congestion management agencies in order to minimize the dispute. Therefore, the controversies that arise due to congestion are dealt with. Other developmental plans include new means of transport being innovated to cater for the transportation needs of the countries low-income, elderly and disabled populations. For example, the community-based planning program. This program’s goal is to advance the findings of the transportation network system through collaboration Going on, there is this issue about the automotive & transportation practice and development.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   These are the some of the current practices that include the automotive and transportation practice that provides global market research for the completed automobiles. Industrial   analysis, concurrent business research which involves custom market research and consultation, market predicament, management consulting and innovation of new strategies result to emerging technologies that are designed to help transportation sector to address current trends and challenges affecting transportation sector and partnership. Another function is to identify new technologies that can lead to advantageous opportunities for growth. This work involves a   global team of automotive and transportation market research analysts, industry experts, and market  consultants who continuously monitor the automotive and transportation industry including logistics, rail systems, automotive testing, diagnostic sand new chassis technologies. In this partnership transportation, there is training for drivers to be equipped with driving dynamics. This is because, new   commercial vehicles that are being manufactured have these new technologies, for example   telemetric and infotainment, power train ,alternative propulsion, safety and   driving assistance not forgetting warning systems.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   The floor is open for those wishing to join the partnership. The advantage is that there is acquiring of freight carrier innovative strategies, freight carrier commitment is enhanced through partnership, freight carrier fleet performance model are available and of course freight carrier benefits of partnership[2]. For example, truck and rail transportation provides a cost-effective means to transport much of America’s freight. Truck and rail fleets can take simple actions to make ground freight more efficient and cleaner for the environment. The following technologies and strategies can help reduce fuel consumption and emissions from freight trucks. First there is idling reduction in the engine mechanism, there is improved aerodynamics in aerial crafting, improved freight logistics. Other current developments include, tire technology that involve automatic tire inflation systems of which tires with wide base are manufactured. In tire inflation system, there is adjustment of the level of tire pressure. This maintains proper tire pressure especially when the automobile is moving; hence facilitating longer service for the tire It is known that tires with wide base can reduce friction and resistance on the road. This would lead to saving consumption of fuel and other fuel related expenditure. Tire technologies improve on reducing accidents by stabilizing the vehicles movement and grasping on the roads. Furthermore, there is production of low-viscosity lubricants that are used in breaks and other movable parts, less viscous artificial and semi-artificial lubricants can reduce friction losses in automobile drive train, emission of gases, and its engine friction. This actually saves the fuel consumption and hence emission of harmful gases.   Going on, synthetic transmission and oil lubricants can raise fuel economy by 0.7 and 2.1 percent in summer and winter respectively. Good news is that by replacing all transmission lubricants with less viscous fluid saves fuel with less or no additional cost. Other development systems are low weight body parts. This is enhanced by sing materials made of aluminum or other lightweight materials. By reducing weight, much oil consumption can be reduced. Actually, the possibility for weight savings is even greater in the automobile. Lastly, there is use of inter modal shipping systems and hybrid power train technology advancement. In the current development systems, several technologies and practices can be used to assist drivers in reducing truck idling. A case study that was performed in one of the automobile firms show that reducing or eliminating prolonged idling of long-transit trucks can save up to one thousands gallons of fuel per truck each year. This would reduce global warming by reducing pollution emissions, and lowering the cost of engine maintenance.   Some idling reduction technologies can minimize fuel consumption through air conditioning.[3] Some of the latest technologies include reduction on fuel consumption; manufacturers have focused considerable attention on implementing new truck tractor aerodynamics systems. By so doing they have achieved significant gains in fuel efficiency and reduction.   To improve efficiency in fuel consumption, improved freight logistics can enhance achieving the goal which include improved operation efficiency, saving fuel and increasing benefits and profits for automobile companies.   Some of the current diplomatic strategies include load scrutiny and matching, more efficient coursing and scheduling of automobiles, and improved working policies. There is use of software to structure more efficient automobile routes. [4] Social, economic and environmental aspect   There is a suggestion for long lasting solutions that would address social aspects, economic aspects, and environmental aspects. The suggestion involves a lifeline transportation program that works with local agencies to improve access to public transit for new entrants to the job market. For example, regional rail plan is helping develop a bay area regional rail plan to improve the current rail system, map out future rail lines and station locations, and integrate passenger and freight from rail sharing on existing tracks. Another example is the suggestion for a smart growth and transportation for livable communities bay area.[5] The communities should embrace the idea by getting a little tender loving care from partnership transportation, in the form of initiatives to foster pedestrian-friendly development and travel options such as walking, bicycling and public transit. [6]   It is visible that Urban Partnership Program proposal to deliver congestion reduction by 2009 through a bold program combing the affiliated parties and experts concerned in tolling, advanced technology, transit and transportation if effective will address some controversies. The current controversies affecting the transportation sector include lack of agreement on terms of scrutiny. There are two controversy terms, that define the impact of partnership transportation i.e. there is technical controversy that defines failure due to decision of an expert appointed by the parties and non-technical controversy that deals with the rules and regulations. The latter, involves bleaching of the contract that involves disputes arrangement on investment. This happened in an oil transportation controversy whereby they wanted the project to be concerned in establishing standards service for the future, rather than examining current controversies about work programmed.   Overcrowding and reliability is also another negative impact caused by partnership transportation. This is a sensitive issue in transportation that require more detailed hearing to solve the pending problems   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   Some of these pending issues include, perceived transport problems, factors influencing travel behavior, transport licensing board service provision, infrastructure schemes, partnership approaches and innovative solution. [7]Other development measures currently undertaken include expansion of airports and upgrading to an international level. For example, Durango la Plata county airport is expected to undertake some upgrading changes in the coming years[8]. Some of Strategies to facilitate development could include expansion of the planning area, code requirements for aviation easements, and establishment of requirements for special construction on lands adjacent to the airport. Retrieved from www.laplatacountycolorado.org Conclusion Partnership transport is a broad business operation that currently integrates all areas of work. It has enabled the world to be seen as a global village. In essence, partnership transports easies the work of transportation and collaboration in the sector and other chambers of commerce.   However, the controversies and negative effects should be dealt with immediately when they arise. Safer means of transport should be innovated to avoid negative impact such as pollution to the environment, air pollution and water pollution. Therefore, it is of great importance to associate all stakeholders in transportation sector e.g. oil companies should manufacture lead free fuel to lessen the negative impact caused by the fuel.   Actually, the engine life and service is directly related to the amount of fuel burned. In essence, the reduction of driving speed can minimize the cost of repairing the engine. The maximum automobile driving speeds can be minimized through electronic software engine controlling mechanism, improved driver-training programs, or I house programs that motivate drivers for abiding with the rules and regulations. Almost, all new automobile engines in use today are electronically manipulated and the cost of changing the highest acceleration setting on these engines is to some extent negligible. The stated mechanisms, developments and resolutions to partnership transportation are the currents undertaking towards strengthening of the transport sector.    References: Current developments in airport expansion, retrieved on 25th August 2007, available at www.laplatacountycolorado.org Current undertakings on transportation sector, retrieved on 29th August 2007, available at www. emeraldinsight.com Fleet strategies, retrieved on 29th August 2007, available at http://www.epa.gov/otaq/smartway/smartway_fleets_strategies.htm James A Merchant and Barbara (2005) Transportation: Facilitating partnership transportation, page 7 and 8 New York Transport scrutiny update, retrieved on 25th August 2007, available at www. The Foundations Of The Canons - 1702 Words

The Foundations of the Canons John 14: 26 states but the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you (). This verse is an explanation from Christ about the role of the Holy Spirit in teaching and recalling events that took place during his time on earth. It is through the witness of the Spirit that man can determine the â€Å"wheat from the chaff.†() The early church had the writing of the Old Testament but did not have a formal set of canonized books regarding the Messiah to draw their inspiration from. Though they had letters from Apostles there were many heretical writings that were circulating throughout the lands that were teaching doctrine different from those who knew Christ personally. Josephus stated that no one had been bold enough to add, take away, or change the wording in the Old Testament scripture (), this was what the Church was looking for in forming a canon that related to the teaching of Christ; a type of written text that would be foundational therefore no one would want to take away or add to it. The early church was using the four Gospels and the letters of many of the Apostles in their church teachings. The churches focused on the importance of the authors being in a first-hand relationship or direct correlation to a disciple such as Mark was to Peter and Luke was to Paul ().
